We are the Labun family, and we created Compassionate Cremation because, as pastors in our local community, we saw that people need space to grieve without being overwhelmed by paperwork, decisions or high-pressure sales tactics. When someone in our congregation has a loved one pass, we don’t want them to have to navigate confusing processes or hidden costs – and neither should you.

After some input from you, we handle the rest: the cremation, delivery of ashes in the urn you choose, and the death certificate. Every family also receives complimentary estate management support through Cadence ⓘ

About Compassioate Cremation

We’re the Labun family, and we created Compassionate Cremation to offer something deeply needed: space to grieve. After years of working in funeral care, we saw how overwhelming this process could be for grieving families.

That’s why we simplified it so you never have to walk into a funeral home. Everything can be done smoothly online or on the phone. No pressure or unnecessary appointments. This way, you can healthily go through the grieving process – connect with loved ones, look at photos, and honour your emotions as they come and go.

We do it all because we’ve had to face our own grief, too. We know that in this moment, you’ll need space just like we did. And that’s why we offer all that we do for as little as we do.

FAQs
What is included in your cremation service?
Our standard cremation includes transportation, necessary paperwork, cremation, and return of the ashes, along with a death certificate.
Do I have to purchase an urn through you?
Not at all. We provide a temporary urn at no cost. During the checkout process, you’re welcome to choose a special urn if you wish.
Who can legally sign the cremation contract?
According to BC law, only the executor named in the will can authorize cremation (if there is no will, then the person closest in legal relation). Contact us to determine whether you are the authorized person to sign for the cremation, as per section 5 of the CIFSA.
Can I witness the cremation?
Yes. We offer a witnessed cremation option for those who wish to be present for an extra charge.
